Adolescents spend a significant part of their lifetime in school and, therefore, this environment plays an important role in their social, emotional and psychological development. Psychological distress can appear during adolescence in the form of mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. It is also manifested in external symptoms including impulsiveness and aggression, which are the later predictors of stress levels and risk behaviours, such as substance use.
